This tiny little nondescript shop in Fortitude Valley happens to be one of the most charming cafes in Brisbane.

The tea room transports me to a magical Chrestomanci like room where the walls are filled with knowledge waiting to be devoured by hungry minds. There are stacks of books (for sale by the way) that speaks of cooking with the different elements of the sea, the land and the myriad of spices and tea.

The menu is an imaginative one, where matcha is mixed with hojicha and sencha. Topped with almond, honey, whipped cream and many others, each drink is a work of art for the eyes and the tastebuds. Although the wait is long, it’s not unreasonable for such delicate hand crafted drinks.

That said, the drinks tasted as good as they looked and would serve you well if you were looking for a matcha fix.

The slice of cake, however lacked punch. While the sponge was light and fluffy, it was hard to tell that it was green tea flavoured from the taste alone. Definitely could do with stronger flavouring.

If you are looking for a nice and quiet place to catch up with a friend or get to know your date better, this is an excellent place to visit.
